On-Vehicle Inspection

  1. INSPECT TURN SIGNAL FLASHER ASSEMBLY CIRCUIT 

    If circuit is as specified, replace the relay.

    If circuit is not as specified, inspect the circuits connected to other parts.

    1. Disconnect the flasher relay connector.
    2. Inspect the connector on the wire harness side, as shown in TURN SIGNAL FLASHER ASSEMBLY CIRCUIT (STANDARD VOLTAGE)  and TURN SIGNAL FLASHER ASSEMBLY CIRCUIT (OK) .

      Standard voltage 

      TURN SIGNAL FLASHER ASSEMBLY CIRCUIT (STANDARD VOLTAGE)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 10 to 14 V
      Ignition switch ACC or OFF Below 1 V
      4 - Body ground Always 10 to 14 V

      OK 

      TURN SIGNAL FLASHER ASSEMBLY CIRCUIT (OK)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2 - Body ground Always Continuity
      3 - Body ground
      7 - Body ground
      5 - Body ground Turn signal switch LEFT
      Turn signal switch is RIGHT or OFF No continuity
      6 - Body ground Turn signal switch RIGHT Continuity
      Turn signal switch is LEFT or OFF No continuity
      8 - Body ground Hazard warning switch ON Continuity
      Hazard warning switch OFF No continuity
  2. INSPECT TOWING CONVERTER RELAY CIRCUIT 

    Remove the towing converter with connector still connected and inspect the wire harness side connector from the back side as shown in TOWING CONVERTER RELAY CIRCUIT (STANDARD VOLTAGE)  and TOWING CONVERTER RELAY CIRCUIT (OK)  .

    Standard voltage 

    TOWING CONVERTER RELAY CIRCUIT (STANDARD VOLTAGE)

    Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
    4 - 6 Turn signal switch LEFT or hazard warning switch ON 10 to 14 V ->
    Below 1 V ->
    10 to 14 V
    Turn signal switch LEFT and stop light switch ON (brake pedal depressed)
    Turn signal switch OFF, hazard warning switch OFF and stop light switch OFF (brake pedal released) Below 1 V
    Stop light switch ON (brake pedal depressed) 10 to 14 V
    6 - 9 Turn signal switch LEFT or hazard warning switch ON 10 to 14 V ->
    Below 1 V ->
    10 to 14 V
    Turn signal switch OFF or RIGHT and hazard warning switch OFF Below 1 V
    2 - 6 Turn signal switch RIGHT or hazard warning switch ON 10 to 14 V ->
    Below 1 V ->
    10 to 14 V
    Turn signal switch RIGHT and stop light switch ON (brake pedal depressed)
    Turn signal switch OFF, hazard warning switch OFF and stop light switch OFF (brake pedal released) Below 1 V
    Stop light switch ON (brake pedal depressed) 10 to 14 V ->
    Below 1 V ->
    10 to 14 V
    1 - 6 Always 10 to 14 V
    6 - 8 Stop light switch ON (brake pedal depressed)
    Stop light switch OFF (brake pedal released) Below 1 V
    3 - 6 Turn signal switch RIGHT or hazard warning switch ON 10 to 14 V
    Turn signal switch OFF or RIGHT and hazard warning switch OFF Below 1 V

    OK 

    TOWING CONVERTER RELAY CIRCUIT (OK)

    Tester Connection Specified Connection
    6 - Body ground Continuity

    If the circuit is not as specified, inspect the circuit connected to other parts.
