Vane Pump: Disassembly
- FIX VANE PUMP ASSEMBLY
- Using SST, hold the vane pump in a vise.
SST 09630-00014 (09631-00132)
- Using SST, hold the vane pump in a vise.
- CHECK VANE PUMP ROTATING TORQUE
- Check that the pump rotates smoothly without abnormal noise.
- Temporarily install the bolt to the shaft.
- Using a torque wrench, measure the pump rotating torque.
Standard rotating torque:
0.3 N*m (2.8 kgf*cm, 2.4 in.*lbf) or less
- REMOVE POWER STEERING SUCTION PORT UNION
- Remove the bolt.
- Remove the O-ring from the union.
- REMOVE FLOW CONTROL VALVE
- Using a 27 mm socket wrench, remove the pressure port union from the front housing.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the O-ring from the pressure port union.
- Remove the flow control valve from the housing front.
- Remove the compression spring from the front housing.
- REMOVE REAR HOUSING
- Loosen the 4 bolts.
- Remove the vane pump assembly from the SST.
- Remove the 4 bolts and rear housing.
- Remove the gasket from the housing.
- REMOVE CAM RING, 10 VANE PLATES AND VANE PUMP ROTOR
- Using a screwdriver, remove the snap ring from the vane pump shaft.NOTE: Be careful not to drop the plate.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the snap ring from the vane pump shaft.
- REMOVE SIDE PLATE
- REMOVE VANE PUMP SHAFT WITH PUMP PULLEY
