Vane Pump: Disassembly

  1. FIX VANE PUMP ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using SST, hold the vane pump in a vise.

      SST 09630-00014 (09631-00132)

  2. CHECK VANE PUMP ROTATING TORQUE 
    1. Check that the pump rotates smoothly without abnormal noise.
    2. Temporarily install the bolt to the shaft.
    3. Using a torque wrench, measure the pump rotating torque.

      Standard rotating torque: 

      0.3 N*m (2.8 kgf*cm, 2.4 in.*lbf) or less

  3. REMOVE POWER STEERING SUCTION PORT UNION 
    1. Remove the bolt.
    2. Remove the O-ring from the union.
  4. REMOVE FLOW CONTROL VALVE 
    1. Using a 27 mm socket wrench, remove the pressure port union from the front housing.
    2. Using a screwdriver, remove the O-ring from the pressure port union.
    3. Remove the flow control valve from the housing front.
    4. Remove the compression spring from the front housing.

  5. REMOVE REAR HOUSING 
    1. Loosen the 4 bolts.
    2. Remove the vane pump assembly from the SST.
    3. Remove the 4 bolts and rear housing.
    4. Remove the gasket from the housing.
  6. REMOVE CAM RING, 10 VANE PLATES AND VANE PUMP ROTOR 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the snap ring from the vane pump shaft.
      NOTE: Be careful not to drop the plate.
  7. REMOVE SIDE PLATE 
  8. REMOVE VANE PUMP SHAFT WITH PUMP PULLEY
