Inspection Procedure

NOTE: When replacing the absorber control ECU, check the acceleration sensor signal after replacement (see TEST MODE PROCEDURE  ).

HINT:

  1. CHECK FOR DTC 
    1. Check for DTC (see FAIL-SAFE CHART  ).

      Result 

      RESULT REFERENCE

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B

    B: REPAIR CIRCUITS INDICATED BY OUTPUT DTCS (See  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART   ) 

    A: GO TO Next Step 

  2. PERFORM TEST MODE 
    1. Perform test mode (see TEST MODE PROCEDURE  ).
    2. Check if the test mode DTC C1787/87 is output.

      Result 

      RESULT REFERENCE

      Result Proceed to
      DTC C1787/87 is not output A
      DTC C1787/87 is output B

    B: REPAIR CIRCUITS INDICATED BY OUTPUT DTCS (See  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART   ) 

    A: GO TO Next Step 

  3. CHECK FOR DTC (CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM) 
    1. Check if the CAN communication system DTC is output (see FAIL-SAFE CHART  ).

      Result 

      RESULT REFERENCE

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B

    B: REPAIR CIRCUITS INDICATED BY OUTPUT DTCS  (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART )

    A: GO TO Next Step 

  4. CHECK FOR DTC (MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM) 
    1. Check if the multiplex communication system DTC is output (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).

      Result 

      RESULT REFERENCE

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B

    B: REPAIR CIRCUITS INDICATED BY OUTPUT DTCS  (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR )

    A: GO TO Next Step 

  5. INSPECT COMBINATION METER 
    1. Check the combination meter (see HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING ).

      OK: The combination meter is normal. 

      Result

      OK (when troubleshooting in accordance with the PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE ) B

    B: PROCEED TO NEXT INSPECTION PROCEDURE SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  

    C: REPLACE COMBINATION METER 

    A: REPLACE ABSORBER CONTROL ECU
