Rear Axle Hub: Installation
- INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY
- Hold the axle hub and bearing assembly in a vise between aluminum plates.NOTE: Do not overtighten the vise.
- Install the axle hub and bearing assembly to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 70 N*m (714 kgf*cm, 52 ft.*lbf)
- Hold the axle hub and bearing assembly in a vise between aluminum plates.
- INSTALL REAR WHEEL BEARING DUST DEFLECTOR NO.2
- Using SST and a hammer, install the bearing dust deflector No.2 to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.

HINT:
Align the hole for the speed sensor in the bearing dust deflector No.2 with the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.
- Using SST and a hammer, install the bearing dust deflector No.2 to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.
- INSTALL REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY
- Install the rear drive shaft assembly and rear axle assembly.
- INSTALL UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY REAR NO.2
- Install the upper control arm assembly rear No.2 to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with a new nut.
Torque: 70 N*m (714 kgf*cm, 52 ft.*lbf)
- Install the upper control arm assembly rear No.2 to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with a new nut.
- TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY REAR NO.1
- Temporarily tighten the upper control arm assembly rear No. 1 to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with the bolt, washer and nut.
HINT:
Install the bolt from the rear side of the vehicle and lightly tighten the bolt.
- Temporarily tighten the upper control arm assembly rear No. 1 to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with the bolt, washer and nut.
- TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY NO.1
- Temporarily tighten the rear suspension arm assembly No.1 to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with the bolt and nut.
HINT:
Install the bolt from the rear side of the vehicle and lightly tighten the bolt.
- Temporarily tighten the rear suspension arm assembly No.1 to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with the bolt and nut.
- TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY NO.2
- Temporarily tighten the rear suspension arm assembly No.2 to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with the bolt and nut.
HINT:
Install the bolt from the rear side of the vehicle and lightly tighten the bolt.
- Temporarily tighten the rear suspension arm assembly No.2 to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with the bolt and nut.
- INSTALL TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Install the toe control link sub-assembly to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with a new nut.

- Install the toe control link sub-assembly to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with a new nut.
- INSTALL LOAD SENSING VALVE SENSOR BRACKET (See INSTALLATION )
- APPLY HIGH TEMPERATURE GREASE (See INSPECTION )
- INSTALL PARKING BRAKE ANCHOR BLOCK
- Install the parking brake anchor block sub-assembly to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 76 N*m (775 kgf*cm, 56 ft.*lbf)
- Install the parking brake anchor block sub-assembly to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with the 2 nuts.
- INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER (See REASSEMBLY )
- INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY NO.2 (See REASSEMBLY )
- INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY NO.1 (See REASSEMBLY )
- INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET (See REASSEMBLY )
- INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE NO. 1 RETURN SPRING (See REASSEMBLY )
- INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE NO. 2 RETURN SPRING (See REASSEMBLY )
- CHECK PARKING BRAKE INSTALLATION (See REASSEMBLY )
- INSTALL SPEED SENSOR REAR (See INSTALLATION )
- INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT
- Install a new rear axle shaft nut.
Torque: 290 N*m (2,957 kgf*cm, 214 ft.*lbf)
HINT:
Stake the nut after inspecting for looseness and runout in the following steps.
- Install a new rear axle shaft nut.
- INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
- INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB RUNOUT (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
- INSTALL REAR DISC (See REASSEMBLY )
- ADJUST PARKING BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE (See PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM )
- INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY (See INSTALLATION )
- INSTALL REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT
- Using a chisel and a hammer, stake the axle shaft nut.
- STABILIZE SUSPENSION (See REMOVAL )
- FULLY TIGHTEN UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY REAR NO.1
- Fully tighten the upper control arm assembly rear No.1 with the nut.
Torque: 161 N*m (1,642 kgf*cm, 119 in.*lbf)
- Fully tighten the upper control arm assembly rear No.1 with the nut.
- FULLY TIGHTEN REAR SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY NO.1
- Fully tighten the rear suspension arm assembly No. 1 with the bolt and nut.
Torque: 95 N*m (969 kgf*cm, 70 ft.*lbf)
NOTE: Turn the bolt while holding the nut.
- Fully tighten the rear suspension arm assembly No. 1 with the bolt and nut.
- FULLY TIGHTEN REAR SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY NO.2
- Fully tighten the rear suspension arm assembly No.2 with the bolt and nut.

Torque: 161 N*m (1,642 kgf*cm, 119 in.*lbf)
NOTE: Turn the bolt while holding the nut.
- Fully tighten the rear suspension arm assembly No.2 with the bolt and nut.
- INSTALL REAR TIRE
Torque: 103 N*m (1,050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf)
- INSPECT PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL (See PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM )
- ADJUST PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL (See PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM )
- INSPECT AND ADJUST REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT

- CHECK ABS SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL
