Inspection Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST (SPEEDOMETER) 
    1. Select the ACTIVE TEST, use the hand-held tester to generate a control command, and then check that the speedometer operates.

      Combination meter assy: 

      COMBINATION METER - ACTIVE TEST

      Item Test Details Diagnostic Note
      SPEED METER 0 (0)/25 (40)/50 (80)/75 (120)/99 (160)/124 (200)/150 (240)/175 (280) km/h (mph) Confirm that vehicle is stopped and engine is idling. It is normal that doors will be locked automatically when performing speedometer Active Test. The displayed value has same units (km/h, mph) as main scale of vehicle's speedometer. Needle position should be within acceptable tolerance.

    OK: The meter operates normally. 

    NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (See  COMBINATION METER ASSY  ) 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  2. READ DATA LIST (SPEEOMETER) 
    1. Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the speedometer.

      Combination meter assy: 

      COMBINATION METER - ACTIVE TEST

      Item Measurement Item/Display (Range) Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      SPEED METER Vehicle speed/Min.: 0km/h (0 mph), Max.: 255 km/h (158 mph) Almost same as actual vehicle speed (when driving) -

    OK: Vehicle speed on tester is almost equal to the actual vehicle speed. 

    NG: Go to step 3 

    OK: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (See  COMBINATION METER ASSY  ) 

  3. CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    1. Disconnect the C8 meter connector.
    2. Measure the voltage of the connector.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C8-20 (S1) - Body ground
      • Ignition switch ON
      • Shift lever on N position
      • Turn rear wheel slowly
      10 to 14 V (pulse generation)

    NG: Go to step 4 

    OK: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (See  COMBINATION METER ASSY  ) 

  4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SKID CONTROL ECU WITH ACTUATOR - COMBINATION METER ASSY) 
    1. Disconnect the S6 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the C8 meter connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S6-16 (SP1) - C8-20 (S1) Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to ABS WITH EBD & BA & TRAC & VSC SYSTEM (See  ABS WITH EBD & BA & TRAC & VSC SYSTEM - DIAGNOSTICS  )
