Inspection Procedure
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST (SECURITY INDICATOR)
- Select the ACTIVE TEST, use the hand-held tester to generate a control command, and then check that the indicator illuminates.
Theft warning ECU assy:

- NG: Go to step 2
- OK: REPLACE THEFT WARNING ECU ASSY
- Select the ACTIVE TEST, use the hand-held tester to generate a control command, and then check that the indicator illuminates.
- INSPECT OUTER MIRROR SWITCH ASSY
- Remove the outer mirror switch assy.
- Apply battery voltage between the terminals of the indicator, and check the lighting condition of the security indicator.NOTE:
- If the positive (+) lead and the negative (-) lead are incorrectly connected, the security indicator does not illuminate.
- A voltage of more than 12 V will damage the security indicator.
- If the voltage is too low, the security indicator will not illuminate.
OK:
MEASUREMENT SPECIFIED CONDITIONMeasurement Condition Specified Condition Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 3 (LP)
Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 5 (E)Illuminates
- NG: REPLACE OUTER MIRROR SWITCH ASSY
- OK: Go to next step.
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (OUTER MIRROR SWITCH ASSY - BODY GROUND)
- Disconnect the M4 switch connector.
- Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.
Standard:
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITIONTester Connection Specified Condition M4-5 (E) - Body ground Below 1 ohms
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
- OK: Go to next step.
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (THEFT WARNING ECU ASSY - OUTER MIRROR SWITCH ASSY)
- Disconnect the T7 ECU connector.
- Disconnect the M4 switch connector.
- Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard:
TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITIONTester Connection Specified Condition T7-3 (IND) - M4-3 (LP) Below 1 ohms T7-3 (IND) or M4-3 (LP) - Body ground 10 k ohms or higher
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
- OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN ON PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
