Shift Lever: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

    (See Step No. 5 under REPAIR INSTRUCTION )

  2. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB 
    1. Remove the shift lever knob.

  3. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL UPPER FRONT (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  4. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  6. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (See step 22 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  7. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (See step 23 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  8. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (See step 17 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  9. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER (See step 18 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  10. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY NO. 2 (See step 24 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  11. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY (See step 25 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  12. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET COVER CENTER RH (See step 27 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  13. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET COVER CENTER LH (See step 26 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  14. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER CENTER (See step 28 in  REMOVAL  ) 
  15. SEPARATE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the cable end from the shift lever assembly.

    2. Pull out the stopper cap of the transmission control cable assembly.

    3. Turn the socket of the transmission control cable counterclockwise and remove the stopper cap.
      NOTE: Do not push in the stopper cap.

  16. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER 
    1. Disconnect the pattern select switch connector, the shift lock control computer connector and the indicator light wire connector.

    2. Remove the 4 nuts and disconnect the shift lever assembly from the vehicle.
