Inspection Procedure
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST (SPEEDOMETER)
- Select the ACTIVE TEST, use the hand-held tester to generate a control command, and then check that the speedometer operates.
Combination meter assy:
SPEEDOMETERItem Test Details Diagnostic Note SPEED METER 0 (0)/25 (40)/50 (80)/75 (120)/99 (160)/124 (200)/150 (240)/175 (280) km/h (mph) Confirm that vehicle is stopped and engine is idling it is normal that doors will be locked automatically when performing speedometer Active Test. The displayed value has same units (km/h, mph) as main scale of vehicle's speedometer. Needle position should be within acceptable tolerance. OK: The meter operates normally.
- NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (See COMBINATION METER ASSY )
- OK: Go to next step.
- Select the ACTIVE TEST, use the hand-held tester to generate a control command, and then check that the speedometer operates.
- READ DATA LIST (SPEEDOMETER)
- Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the speedometer.
Combination meter assy:
OK: Vehicle speed on tester is almost equal to the actual vehicle speed.
- NG: Go to step 3
- OK: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (See COMBINATION METER ASSY )
- Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the speedometer.
- CHECK COMBINATION METER ASSY
- Remove the combination meter, but do not disconnect the connectors.
- Measure the voltage of the meter.
Standard:
- NG: Go to step 4
- OK: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (See COMBINATION METER ASSY )
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SKID CONTROL ECU WITH ACTUATOR - COMBINATION METER ASSY)
- Disconnect the S6 ECU connector.
- Disconnect the C8 meter connector.
- Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard:
SKID CONTROL ECU WITH ACTUATOR - COMBINATION METER ASSYTester Connection Specified Condition S6-16 (SP1) - C8-18 (S1) Below 1 ohms
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
- OK: Go to ABS WITH EBD & BA & TRAC & VSC SYSTEM - DIAGNOSTICS
