Seat Heater System: Inspection

INSPECT RELAY (Marking: IG1)

Measure the resistance of the IG1 relay.

Standard:

RELAY (MARKING: IG1)

Tester Connection	Specified Condition
3 - 5	10 k ohms or higher
3 - 5	Below 1 ohms (when battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 and 2)

If the result is not as specified, replace the relay.

INSPECT FRONT SEAT HEATER SWITCH

Measure the resistance of the switch.

Standard:

FRONT SEAT HEATER SWITCH

Tester Connection	Switch Condition	Specified Condition
9 (SWL) - 10 (RVL)	Switch (LH) OFF	10 k ohms or higher
9 (SWL) - 10 (RVL)	Switch (LH) ON (Min.)	2.72 to 4.08 k ohms
9 (SWL) - 10 (RVL)	Switch (LH) ON (Max.)	0.28 to 0.42 k ohms
1 (RVR) - 2 (SWR)	Switch (RH) OFF	10 k ohms or higher
1 (RVR) - 2 (SWR)	Switch (RH) ON (Min.)	2.72 to 4.08 k ohms
1 (RVR) - 2 (SWR)	Switch (RH) ON (Max.)	0.28 to 0.42 k ohms

If the result is not as specified, replace the switch.

HINT:

As the dial is being turned, the resistance changes gradually.

Check that the seat heater switch indicator lamp illuminates.

OK:

SEAT HEATER SWITCH INDICATOR LAMP ILLUMINATES

3 (IG) - Negative (-) battery 6 (E) - Positive (+) battery	Heater Switch ON	Illuminates

If the result is not as specified, replace the switch.

INSPECT FRONT SEATBACK HEATER ASSY LH

Measure the resistance of the seatback heater.

Standard:

FRONT SEATBACK HEATER ASSY LH (1 OF 2)

Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
1 - 4	Seat heater temp. 20°C (68°F)	Below 1 ohms

Heat the thermostat with a light.

Measure the resistance of the seatback heater.

FRONT SEATBACK HEATER ASSY LH (2 OF 2)

Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
2 - 3	Seat heater temp. 25°C (77°F)	4.9 to 5.1 k ohms
2 - 3	Seat heater temp. 37°C (98.6°F)	2.9 to 3.1 k ohms

If the result is not as specified, replace the seatback heater.

INSPECT FRONT SEATBACK HEATER ASSY RH

Measure the resistance of the seatback heater.

Standard:

FRONT SEATBACK HEATER ASSY RH (1 OF 2)

Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
1 - 4	Seat heater temp. 20°C (68°F)	Below 1 ohms

Heat the thermostat with a light.

Measure the resistance of the seatback heater.

FRONT SEATBACK HEATER ASSY RH (2 OF 2)

Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
2 - 3	Seat heater temp. 25°C (77°F)	4.9 to 5.1 k ohms
2 - 3	Seat heater temp. 37°C (98.6°F)	2.9 to 3.1 k ohms

If the result is not as specified, replace the seatback heater.

INSPECT FRONT SEAT CUSHION HEATER ASSY LH

Measure the resistance of the seat cushion heater.

Standard:

FRONT SEAT CUSHION HEATER ASSY LH

Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
1 - 2	Seat heater temp. 20°C (68°F)	Below 1.25 ohms

If the result is not as specified, replace the seat cushion heater.

INSPECT FRONT SEAT CUSHION HEATER ASSY RH

Measure the resistance of the seat cushion heater.

Standard:

FRONT SEAT CUSHION HEATER ASSY RH

Tester Connection	Condition	Specified Condition
1 - 2	Seat heater temp. 20°C (68°F)	Below 1.25 ohms

If the result is not as specified, replace the seat cushion heater.
