Front Seat: Overhaul
HINT:
- The installation procedures are the removal procedures in reverse order. However, only installation procedures requiring additional information are included.
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
- A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt table (See SPECIFIED TORQUE FOR STANDARD BOLTS ).
CAUTION:
Wear protective gloves. Sharp areas on the seatback spring, seat adjuster and seat cushion spring may injure your hands.
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSY
- Using a screwdriver, pry out the 4 seat track bracket covers.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
- Disconnect the connectors under the seat. Then remove the seat.
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the vehicle body. - Using a screwdriver, pry out the 4 seat track bracket covers.
- REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER RELEASE HANDLE LH
- Raise the reclining adjuster release handle to reveal the claw. Using a screwdriver, detach the claw and remove the release handle.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- REMOVE POWER SEAT SWITCH KNOB
- Using a screwdriver, pry out the 2 switch knobs.

- Using a screwdriver, pry out the 2 switch knobs.
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD INNER NO. 1 LH
- Remove the screw.
- Using a screwdriver, detach the 3 claws and remove the cushion shield.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER COVER LH
- Remove the 4 screws.
- Disconnect the lumbar front power seat switch connector. Then remove the adjuster cover.
- REMOVE LUMBAR FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH
- Remove the 2 screws and switch.
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH
- Disconnect the connectors and detach the clamps.
- Remove the nut and inner belt.
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD INNER LH
- Remove the 3 screws.
- Using a screwdriver, detach the 5 claws and remove the cushion shield.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- REMOVE RECLINING REMOTE CONTROL LEVER BEZEL LH
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Using a screwdriver, detach the claws and remove the reclining remote control lever knob.
- Using a screwdriver, detach the 5 claws and remove the lever bezel.
- REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK BOARD SUB-ASSY LH
- Remove the 2 screws.
- Pull the seatback board downward to detach the 2 hooks. Then, remove the seatback board.
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION ASSY
- Disconnect the connector and detach the clamp.
- Remove the 4 bolts and seat cushion.
- REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK ASSY
- Remove the hog rings.
- Disconnect the connectors and detach the clamps.
- Disconnect the reclining remote control lever cable from the seat adjuster.
- Remove the 4 bolts and seatback.
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSY
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST SUPPORT
- Detach the claws and remove the 2 headrest supports.
- REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK BOARD
- Remove the 4 bolts and seatback board.
- REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK COVER
- Remove the hog rings and seatback cover (together with the pad) from the seatback spring.
- Remove the hog rings and seatback cover from the seatback pad.
- REMOVE RECLINING REMOTE CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSY LH
- Remove the 2 bolts and control lever.
- REMOVE LUMBAR SUPPORT ADJUSTER ASSY
- Disconnect the connector.
- Remove the 2 bolts, spacer and adjuster.
- REMOVE FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH LH
- Disconnect the connector.
- Remove the 3 screws and power seat switch.
- REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER RH
- Remove the 2 screws and inside cover.
- REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER LH
- Remove the 2 screws and inside cover.
- REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER
- Remove the hog rings and cushion cover (together with the pad) from the seat cushion spring.
- Remove the hog rings and cushion cover from the seat cushion pad.
- REMOVE POWER SEAT MOTOR ASSY
- Disconnect the connectors.
- Remove the 8 screws and 4 power seat motors.
- INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER NOTE:
- Be careful not to damage the cover.
- When installing the hog rings, avoid making wrinkles.
- Using hog ring pliers, install the seat cushion cover to the seat cushion pad with new hog rings.
- Using hog ring pliers, install the seat cushion cover (with pad) to the seat cushion spring with new hog rings.
- INSTALL RECLINING REMOTE CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSY LH
- Install the control lever with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)
- Install the control lever with the 2 bolts.
- INSTALL FRONT SEATBACK COVER NOTE:
- Be careful not to damage the cover.
- When installing the hog rings, avoid making wrinkles.
- Using hog ring pliers, install the seatback cover to the seatback pad with new hog rings.
- Using hog ring pliers, install the seatback cover (with pad) to the seatback spring with new hog rings.
- INSTALL FRONT SEATBACK ASSY
- Install the seatback with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 43 N.m (439 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf)
- Connect the reclining remote control lever cable to the seat adjuster.
- Attach the clamp and connect the connectors.
- Install the hog rings and fully install the seatback cover.
- Install the seatback with the 4 bolts.
- INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION ASSY
- Install the seat cushion with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 21 N.m (214 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)
- Attach the clamp and connect the connectors.
- Install the seat cushion with the 4 bolts.
- INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH
- Install the inner belt with the nut.
Torque: 42 N.m (428 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)
- Attach the clamp and connect the connectors.
- Install the inner belt with the nut.
- INSTALL FRONT SEAT ASSY
- Place the seat in the cabin.NOTE: Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
- Connect the connector under the seat.
- Install the seat with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 37 N.m (377 kgf.cm, 27 ft.lbf)
- Install the 4 seat track covers.
- Place the seat in the cabin.
- CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
- PERFORM INITIALIZATION (See INITIALIZATION
) NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
- CHECK SRS WARNING LAMP (See DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM )
