Inspection Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST (SECURITY INDICATOR) 
    1. Select the ACTIVE TEST, use the hand-held tester to generate a control command, and then check that the indicator illuminates.

      Theft warning ECU assy: 

      DIAGNOSTIC TABLE

      Item Test Details Diagnostic Note
      SECURITY INDIC Security indicator ON/OFF -

      OK: Security indicator operates normally. 

    1. NG: Go to step   2 
    2. OK: REPLACE THEFT WARNING ECU ASSY 
  2. INSPECT OUTER MIRROR SWITCH ASSY 
    1. Remove the outer mirror switch assy.
    2. Apply battery voltage between the terminals of the indicator, and check the lighting condition of the security indicator.
      NOTE:
      • If the positive (+) lead and the negative (-) lead are incorrectly connected, the security indicator does not illuminate.
      • A voltage of more than 12 V will damage the security indicator.
      • If the voltage is too low, the security indicator will not illuminate.

      OK: 

      MEASUREMENT SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 3 (LP)
      Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 5 (E)
      Illuminates

    1. NG: REPLACE OUTER MIRROR SWITCH ASSY 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (OUTER MIRROR SWITCH ASSY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the M4 switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      M4-5 (E) - Body ground Below 1 ohms

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (THEFT WARNING ECU ASSY - OUTER MIRROR SWITCH ASSY) 
    1. Disconnect the T7 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the M4 switch connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      T7-3 (IND) - M4-3 (LP) Below 1 ohms
      T7-3 (IND) or M4-3 (LP) - Body ground 10 k ohms or higher

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN ON  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
