Inspection Procedure

  1. READ DATA LIST (ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH) 
    1. Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the engine hood courtesy switch.

      Driver side J/B ECU:

      OK: ON (engine hood is open) appears on screen. 

    1. NG: Go to step   2 
    2. OK: REPLACE DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK (DRIVER SIDE J/B ECU) 
  2. INSPECT ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH 
    1. Remove the courtesy switch from the hood lock.
    2. Measure the resistance of the switch.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Pushed (OFF) 10 k ohms or higher
      1 - 2 Not Pushed (ON) Below 1 ohms

    1. NG: REPLACE ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (DRIVER SIDE J/B ECU - ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the D2 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the E8 switch connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      D2-16 (HDCY) - E8-1 Below 1 ohms
      E8-2 - Body ground Below 1 ohms
      D2-16 (HDCY) or E8-1 - Body ground 10 k ohms or higher

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN ON  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
