Section 54 (Engine Oil Pump Seal): Replacement

  1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL RH 
  2. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM HEAD CAP 
  3. REMOVE FR WIPER ARM RH, see  REPLACEMENT  . 
  4. REMOVE FR WIPER ARM LH, see  REPLACEMENT  . 
  5. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY, see  REPLACEMENT  . 
  6. REMOVE WIPER LINK ASSEMBLY, see  REPLACEMENT  . 
  7. REMOVE COWL TOP TO COWL BRACE INNER NO. 1, see  REPLACEMENT  . 
  8. REMOVE COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY OUTER FRONT, see  REPLACEMENT  . 
  9. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH 
  10. REMOVE V (COOLER COMPRESSOR TO CRANKSHAFT PULLEY) BELT NO. 1, see  REPLACEMENT  . 
  11. REMOVE VANE PUMP V BELT, see  REPLACEMENT  . 
  12. REMOVE ENGINE MOVING CONTROL ROD, see  TIMING BELT  . 
  13. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING STAY NO. 2 RH, see  TIMING BELT  . 
  14. REMOVE GENERATOR BRACKET NO. 2, see  TIMING BELT  . 
  15. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY, see  TIMING BELT  . 

    SST 09213-54015 (91651-60855), 09330-00021, 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05031)

  16. REMOVE TIMING BELT NO. 1 COVER 
  17. REMOVE TIMING BELT NO. 2 COVER, see  TIMING BELT  . 
  18. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET RH, see  TIMING BELT  . 
  19. REMOVE TIMING BELT GUIDE NO. 2 
  20. REMOVE TIMING BELT, see  TIMING BELT  . 
  21. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT TIMING PULLEY 
    1. Remove the bolt and the timing belt plate.
    2. Install the pulley bolt to the crankshaft.
    3. Using SST, remove the crankshaft timing pulley.

      SST 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05011)

    NOTE:
    • Do not scratch the sensor part of the crankshaft timing pulley.
    • Before using SST, apply lubricating oil on the threads and tip of the center bolt 150.
  22. REMOVE OIL PUMP SEAL 
    1. Using a knife, cut off the oil seal lip.
    2. Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped in tape, pry out the oil seal.
    NOTE: After the removal, check the crankshaft for damage. If it is damaged, smooth the surface with 400-grit sandpaper.

  23. INSTALL OIL PUMP SEAL 
    1. Apply MP grease to a new oil seal lip.
      NOTE: Keep the lip free of foreign objects.
    2. Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new oil seal until its surface is flush with the oil pump edge.

    NOTE:
    • Be careful not to tap the oil seal at an angle.
    • Wipe off extra grease on the crankshaft.
  24. INSTALL CRANKSHAFT TIMING PULLEY 
    1. Align the keyway of the pulley with the key located on the crankshaft and slide the pulley into place.
      NOTE: Do not scratch the sensor area of the crankshaft timing pulley.

    2. Install the timing belt plate with the bolt.

      Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)

  27. INSTALL CHAIN TENSIONER ASSEMBLY NO. 1, see  TIMING BELT  . 
  28. INSTALL TIMING BELT GUIDE NO. 2, see  TIMING BELT  . 
  29. INSTALL ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET RH, see  TIMING BELT  . 
  30. INSTALL TIMING BELT NO. 2 COVER, see  TIMING BELT  . 
  31. INSTALL TIMING BELT NO. 1 COVER, see  TIMING BELT  . 
  32. INSTALL CRANKSHAFT PULLEY, see  TIMING BELT  .
