Inspection Procedure

- INSPECT STOP LAMP SWITCH OPERATION
- Check that the stop lamp lights up when brake pedal is depressed and turns OFF when the brake pedal is released.
- NG: INSPECT STOP LAMP SWITCH CIRCUIT (See DTC C1249/49: OPEN CIRCUIT IN STOP LIGHT SWITCH CIRCUIT )
- OK: Go to Next Step
- INSPECT STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY
- Disconnect the stop lamp switch assy connector.
- Measure the continuity between each terminal of the stop lamp switch assy.
Standard:
TESTER CONNECTIONSwitch condition Tester connection Specification Switch pin free 1 - 2 Continuity Switch pin free 3 - 4 No continuity Switch pin pushed in 1 - 2 No continuity Switch pin pushed in 3 - 4 Continuity - NG: REPLACE STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSY
- OK: Go to Next Step
- INSPECT ECM
- Remove the ECM with connectors.
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Measure voltage between terminal STP of ECM connector and body ground when the brake pedal is depressed and released.
Standard:
PEDAL VOLTAGEPedal condition Voltage (V) Depressed 10 to 14 Released Below 1 - Measure voltage between terminal ST1 - of ECM connector and body ground when the brake pedal is depressed and released.
Standard:

- NG: REPLACE ECM (See ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE )
- OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
