Inspection Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY HAND-HELD TESTER (COMBINATION METER) 
    1. Operate the hand-held tester according to the steps on the display and perform the "ACTIVE TEST".

      TACHOMETER 0 rpm /1000 rpm / 2000 rpm / 3000 rpm / 4000 rpm / 5000 rpm / 6000 rpm / 7000 -
    1. NG: CHECK AND REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  2. READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER (COMBINATION METER) 
    1. Operate the hand-held tester according to the steps on the display and select "DATA LIST".

      TACHOMETER Engine speed / Min.: 0 rpm, Max.: 12,750 rpm Almost same at the meter rpm (When engine is running)
    1. OK: CHECK AND REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  3. READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER (ECM) 
    1. Operate the hand-held tester according to the steps on the display and select "DATA LIST".

    1. NG: GO TO ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  4. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSY 

    (REFERENCE) INSPECTION USING OSCILLOSCOPE 

    1. Check the input signal waveform.
      1. Remove the combination meter assy.
      2. Connect the oscilloscope to the terminal C10-37 and C10-30 of the combination meter assy.
      3. Start the engine.
      4. Check the signal waveform.

    1. OK: CHECK AND REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY

    2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BETWEEN ECM AND COMBINATION METER ASSY) 
    1. Remove the combination meter assy.
    2. Disconnect the connector from ECM.
    3. Check the continuity between the terminal E4-5 (TACH) of ECM and the terminal C10-37 of the combination meter connector (See TERMINALS OF ECU  ).

      Standard: Continuity. 

    1. OK: CHECK AND REPLACE ECM 
    2. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
