Problem Symptoms Table

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Toyota Sienna. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Check the circuits for each problem symptom in the order given in the table below and proceed to the relevant troubleshooting page.

NOTE:
  • Inspect each malfunction circuit in numerical order for the corresponding symptom.

If the malfunction still exist even after checking and confirming that all the circuit are normal, replace the brake actuator assy.

  • When a malfunction is found in the skid control ECU, replace the brake actuator assy.
  • When the tire pressure warning lamp blinks and the ABS warning lamp comes on, check the ABS system first.
PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE - TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM

    Symptom Suspect Area
The tire pressure warning lamp does not come on right after the ignition switch is turned ON.
    • 2. Tire pressure warning lamp circuit
    • 3. Brake actuator assy
The tire pressure warning lamp remains on right after the ignition switch is ON.
NOTE: System abnormal 1 is detected.
    1. Tire pressure warning lamp circuit
    2. Brake actuator assy
The tire pressure warning lamp is blinking at the 0.5 seconds interval.
NOTE: System abnormal 2 is detected.
    1. Check the DTCs for the ABS system.

      w/o VSC

      w/VSC

    2. Check the DTCs for the tire pressure warning system.
    3. Brake actuator assy
Tire pressure warning lamp is blinking at the 0.25 second interval.
NOTE: The ECU requires the initialization.
    1. Initialize the tire pressure warning system (step 5.)
    2. Brake actuator assy
The ECU is initialized (the tire pressure warning switch is ON), but the tire pressure warning lamp does not blink.
    1. Tire pressure warning switch circuit
    2. Brake actuator assy
The tire pressure warning lamp comes on while driving, but the lamp goes off without supplying tire air pressure.
    1. Check tire pressure warning lamp (step 7.)
    2. Tire pressure warning lamp circuit
    3. Brake actuator assy
NOTE: The varied tire pressure is detected depending on the driving environment.
NOTE: Since any of the detected pressure reaches the standard tire pressure value, the warning lamp may goes off.
The tire pressure warning lamp comes on, but the tire air pressure is in the standard value.
    1. Check that the vehicle wears whether the appropriate size tire or not.
    2. Ambient temperature sensor circuit

      w/VSC

    3. Tire pressure warning lamp circuit
    4. Brake actuator assy
    NOTE:
    • Wearing the inappropriate size tire, or not using the indicated tire.
    • The tire air pressure may not be standard value at the time of the initialization.
The tire pressure warning lamp remains off, even when the tire air pressure decreased.
    1. Check that the vehicle wears whether the appropriate size tire or not.
    2. Ambient temperature sensor circuit

      w/VSC

    3. Tire pressure warning lamp circuit
    4. Brake actuator assy
    NOTE:
    • Wearing the inappropriate size tire, or not using the indicated tire.
    • The varied tire pressure is detected depending on the driving environment. Since the tire air pressure decreases further, the pressure warning lamp may come on.
    • The air pressure may not be standard value at time of the initialization.
The tire pressure warning lamp comes on while driving, but the lamp remains lit after supplying the tire air pressure.
    1. Check tire pressure warning lamp (step 7.)
    2. Tire pressure warning lamp circuit
    3. Ambient temperature sensor circuit

      w/VSC

    4. Brake actuator assy
    DTC check cannot be completed.
    1. Check the DTCs for the ABS system. w/o VSC w/VSC
    2. TC terminal circuit w/o VSC w/VSC
    3. Tire pressure warning lamp circuit
    4. Brake actuator assy
    Test mode cannot be completed.
    1. Check the DTCs for the ABS system. w/o VSC w/VSC
    2. TS terminal circuit w/o VSC w/VSC
    3. Brake actuator assy
