Section 462 (Hood): Overhaul

HINT:
- The installation procedures are the removal procedures in reverse order. However, only installation procedures requiring additional information are included.
- A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart (see SUSPENSION CONTROL SYSTEM ).
- REMOVE HOOD INSULATOR
- Using a clip remover, disengage the 10 clips and remove the insulator.
- REMOVE HOOD TO RADIATOR SUPPORT SEAL
- Using a clip remover, disengage the 13 clips and remove the seal.
- REMOVE AUXILIARY CATCH RELEASE LEVER ASSY
- Disconnect the snap and remote control rod No. 2 in the direction indicated by the arrow marks in the illustration.
HINT:
If snap are damaged during removal, replace them.
- Remove the 2 bolts and lever.
- Disconnect the snap and remote control rod No. 2 in the direction indicated by the arrow marks in the illustration.
- REMOVE RADIATOR GRILLE
- Remove the 6 bolts and inside radiator grille together with the outside radiator grille and radiator grille protector.
- Remove the protector.
- Remove the 8 screws and inside radiator grille.
- REMOVE HOOD AUXILIARY CATCH HOOK ASSY
- Remove the bolt and hook.
- REMOVE HOOD SUPPORT ASSY LH
- REMOVE HOOD SUPPORT ASSY RH
- REMOVE HOOD LOCK ASSY
- Using a screwdriver, remove the hood lock nut cap as shown in the illustration.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Remove the 2 bolts, nut and lock.
- Disconnect the hood lock control cable.
- Disconnect the connector.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the hood lock nut cap as shown in the illustration.
- REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE COVER
- Using a screwdriver, remove the hood lock nut cap.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Remove the nut and cover.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the hood lock nut cap.
- REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSY
- Remove the 2 screws and lever.
- Disconnect the hood lock control cable from the J/B.
- REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE ASSY
- Using a screwdriver, disconnect the cable clamps as shown in the illustration.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Pull the cable from the engine room and remove it.
- Using a screwdriver, disconnect the cable clamps as shown in the illustration.
- INSTALL HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE ASSY
- Pass the cable to the engine room.
- Pass the cable rear side through the grommet until the cable stopper is attached to the grommet.
- Pass the cable front side through the upper radiator support.
HINT:
Pass the cable to the upper part of the skid control ECU bracket as shown in the illustration.
- Connect the cable clamps as shown in the illustration.
- INSTALL HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSY
- Connect the hood lock control cable as shown in the illustration.
- Install the lever with the 2 screws.
- INSTALL HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE COVER
- Install the cover with the nut.
Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)
- Install the cap.
- Install the cover with the nut.
- INSTALL HOOD LOCK ASSY
- Apply MP grease to the sliding areas of the lock.
- Connect the hood lock control cable.
- Install the hood lock with the 2 bolts and nut.
Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)
- Install the cap.
- INSTALL HOOD AUXILIARY CATCH HOOK ASSY
- Install the hook with the bolt.
Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)
- Install the hook with the bolt.
- INSTALL RADIATOR GRILLE
- Install the inside radiator grille to the outside radiator grille with the 8 screws.
- Install the radiator grille protector.
- Install the radiator grille with the 6 bolts.
Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)
- INSTALL AUXILIARY CATCH RELEASE LEVER ASSY
- Install the lever with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)
- Connect the rod and lock the snap as shown in the illustration.
- Install the lever with the 2 bolts.
