Section 462 (Hood): Overhaul

HINT:

  1. REMOVE HOOD INSULATOR 
    1. Using a clip remover, disengage the 10 clips and remove the insulator.
  2. REMOVE HOOD TO RADIATOR SUPPORT SEAL 
    1. Using a clip remover, disengage the 13 clips and remove the seal.
  3. REMOVE AUXILIARY CATCH RELEASE LEVER ASSY 
    1. Disconnect the snap and remote control rod No. 2 in the direction indicated by the arrow marks in the illustration.

      HINT:

      If snap are damaged during removal, replace them.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and lever.

  4. REMOVE RADIATOR GRILLE 
    1. Remove the 6 bolts and inside radiator grille together with the outside radiator grille and radiator grille protector.
    2. Remove the protector.
    3. Remove the 8 screws and inside radiator grille.

  5. REMOVE HOOD AUXILIARY CATCH HOOK ASSY 
    1. Remove the bolt and hook.

  6. REMOVE HOOD SUPPORT ASSY LH 
  7. REMOVE HOOD SUPPORT ASSY RH 
  8. REMOVE HOOD LOCK ASSY 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the hood lock nut cap as shown in the illustration.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts, nut and lock.
    3. Disconnect the hood lock control cable.
    4. Disconnect the connector.

  9. REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE COVER 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the hood lock nut cap.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Remove the nut and cover.

  10. REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSY 
    1. Remove the 2 screws and lever.
    2. Disconnect the hood lock control cable from the J/B.

  11. REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE ASSY 
    1. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the cable clamps as shown in the illustration.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    2. Pull the cable from the engine room and remove it.

  12. INSTALL HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE ASSY 
    1. Pass the cable to the engine room.
    2. Pass the cable rear side through the grommet until the cable stopper is attached to the grommet.
    3. Pass the cable front side through the upper radiator support.

      HINT:

      Pass the cable to the upper part of the skid control ECU bracket as shown in the illustration.

    4. Connect the cable clamps as shown in the illustration.

  13. INSTALL HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSY 
    1. Connect the hood lock control cable as shown in the illustration.
    2. Install the lever with the 2 screws.

  14. INSTALL HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE COVER 
    1. Install the cover with the nut.

      Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf) 

    2. Install the cap.

  15. INSTALL HOOD LOCK ASSY 
    1. Apply MP grease to the sliding areas of the lock.

    2. Connect the hood lock control cable.
    3. Install the hood lock with the 2 bolts and nut.

      Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf) 

    4. Install the cap.

  16. INSTALL HOOD AUXILIARY CATCH HOOK ASSY 
    1. Install the hook with the bolt.

      Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)

  17. INSTALL RADIATOR GRILLE 
    1. Install the inside radiator grille to the outside radiator grille with the 8 screws.
    2. Install the radiator grille protector.
    3. Install the radiator grille with the 6 bolts.

      Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)

  18. INSTALL AUXILIARY CATCH RELEASE LEVER ASSY 
    1. Install the lever with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf) 

    2. Connect the rod and lock the snap as shown in the illustration.
