Section 349 (Seat Heater System): Inspection

  1. INSPECT SEAT HEATER SWITCH CONTINUITY 
    SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Switch position Tester connection Specified condition
    HI 3-4
    5-6
    Continuity
    OFF - No continuity
    LO 4-5 Continuity
    Illumination circuit 1-2 Continuity

    If the continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.

  2. INSPECT SEAT HEATER INDICATOR LIGHT OPERATION 
    1. Connect the battery positive (+) lead to terminal 6 and the battery negative (-) lead to terminal 4.
    2. Push the seat heater switch Right or Left side and check that the indicator light comes on.

    If the operation is not as specified, replace the switch and inspect the circuits connected to other parts.

  3. INSPECT SEAT HEATER CUSHION CONTINUITY 

    Inspect the seat heater assy between terminals, as shown.

    SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    1-4 Always Continuity
    2-3 Always Continuity

    If the continuity is not as specified, replace the seat heater assy.

  4. INSPECT SEAT BACK CONTINUITY 

    Inspect the seat heater assy between terminals, as shown.

    SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    1 -2-3 Always Continuity

    If the continuity is not as specified, replace the seat heater assy.

  5. INSPECT SEAT CUSHION AND SEAT BACK OPERATION 
    1. Heat the thermostat with a light.
    2. Connect the seat cushion and the seat back connector.
    3. Inspect the seat heater assy continuity between terminals, as shown.

    SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester connection Condition Specified condition
    1 <--> 4, 2 <--> 3 25-35 °C (77-95 °F) Continuity
    1 <--> 4 35-45 °C (77-95 °F) Continuity
    2 <--> 3 35-45 °C (77-95 °F) No continuity

    If the continuity is not as specified, replace the seat heater assy.

  6. INSPECT SEAT HEATER ASSY (SEAT BACK) OPERATION 
    1. Heat the thermostat with a light.
    2. Connect the seat cushion and the seat back connector.
    3. Inspect the seat heater assy continuity between terminals, as shown.
