Engine Compartment Junction & Relay Blocks

Component Locations
- Engine compartment fusible link block is located at left inner fender panel. For identification of fuses and relays, see Fig 3. For identification of protected circuits, see table below. For wiring diagrams of circuits, see POWER DISTRIBUTION in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
- Engine compartment junction block No.2 (power distributor) is located at left inner fender panel. For identification of semiconductor relays, see Fig 4. For wiring diagrams of circuits, see POWER DISTRIBUTION in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
- Engine compartment relay block is located at left inner fender panel. For identification of relays, see Fig 5. For wiring diagrams of circuits, see POWER DISTRIBUTION in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
- Engine compartment relay block No. 3 is located at right inner fender panel. For identification of relays, see Fig 6. For wiring diagrams of circuits, see POWER DISTRIBUTION in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
NOTE:
In 2004, manufacturer converted some circuits to semiconductor relays that are located in the power distributor. Power distributor has a protective mode that engages when overcurrent or overheating is sensed. Protective mode stops operation of all semiconductor relays while protective mode is engaged. Except for the rear defrost relay circuit, when protective mode disengages, all operation returns to normal until protective mode is reengaged. When protective mode engages, rear defrost circuit remains off until switch is manually powered on in the passenger compartment. To test for protective mode, locate the mode monitor terminal in fusible link block and monitor voltage. See Fig 3. Zero volts protective mode is engaged. 6 Volts is normal mode.
