Inspection Procedure

- CHECK DTC
- Check for DTC B2222. DTC B2222 indicates a pulse sensor malfunction.
- Without code outputs, proceed to A.
- With code outputs, proceed to B.
- B: Go to DTC B2222 PBD PULSE SENSOR MALFUNCTION
- A: GO TO NEXT STEP.
- Check for DTC B2222. DTC B2222 indicates a pulse sensor malfunction.
- VISUALLY CHECK
- Check for foreign objects on the operating area.
- NG: REMOVE OBSTACLES AND RE-CHECK DOOR OPERATION
- OK: Go to next step.
- CHECK MANUAL OPERATION
- Push off the power back door off switch in order to locate the area where reverse operation has been triggered.
- Move the back door manually, and then check that there are no obstacles present (no extra resistance) around the reverse operation area and that the back door smoothly operates.
- NG: ADJUST FITTING CONDITION OF BACK DOOR (see ADJUSTMENT )
- OK: Go to next step.
- READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER (POWER BACK DOOR TOUCH SENSOR LH)
- Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the power back door touch sensor LH.

- OK: Go to step 7
- NG: GO TO NEXT STEP.
- Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the power back door touch sensor LH.
- INSPECT POWER BACK DOOR TOUCH SENSOR LH
- Check the resistance of the sensor.
Standard:
TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Condition Specified condition 1 - 2 Free Approx. 1 kΩ 1 - 2 Pressed Below 100 Ω
- NG: REPLACE POWER BACK DOOR TOUCH SENSOR LH
- OK: Go to next step.
- Check the resistance of the sensor.
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (POWER BACK DOOR TOUCH SENSOR LH - POWER BACK DOOR ECU)
- Disconnect the P15 sensor and P13 ECU connectors.
- Check the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard:
TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Specified Condition P15-1 (OSL) - P13-14 (OSL) Below 1 Ω P15-2 (OSLE) - P13-15 (OSE) Below 1 Ω
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
- OK: REPLACE POWER BACK DOOR ECU
- READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER (POWER BACK DOOR TOUCH SENSOR LH)
- Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the power back door touch sensor RH.

- OK: Go to step 10
- NG: Go to next step.
- Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the power back door touch sensor RH.
- INSPECT POWER BACK DOOR TOUCH SENSOR RH
- Check the resistance of the sensor.
Standard:
TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Condition Specified condition 1 - 2 Free Approx. 1 kΩ 1 - 2 Pressed Below 100 Ω
- NG: REPLACE POWER BACK DOOR TOUCH SENSOR RH
- OK: Go to next step.
- Check the resistance of the sensor.
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (POWER BACK DOOR TOUCH SENSOR RH - POWER BACK DOOR ECU)
- Disconnect the P16 sensor and P13 ECU connectors.
- Check the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard:
TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Specified Condition P16-1 (OSR) - P13- 16 (OSR) Below 1 Ω P16-2 (OSRE) - P13- 15 (OSE) Below 1 Ω
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
- OK: REPLACE POWER BACK DOOR ECU
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING HAND-HELD TESTER
- Select the ACTIVE TEST, use the hand-held tester to generate a control command, and then check that the power back door drive unit operates.
Standard:

- OK REPLACE POWER BACK DOOR ECU (RECHECK DOOR OPERATION)
- NG: GO TO NEXT STEP.
- Select the ACTIVE TEST, use the hand-held tester to generate a control command, and then check that the power back door drive unit operates.
- INSPECT POWER BACK DOOR DRIVE UNIT
- Remove the unit.
- Connect the battery positive (+) lead to terminal 3 and battery negative (-) terminal lead to terminal 9.
- Apply battery voltage to the terminals and check the motor operation.
Standard:
MEASUREMENT CONDITION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTMeasurement Condition Specified Condition Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 7 Open Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 8 Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 8 Close Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 7 - Check the resistance of the clutch terminals.
Standard:
TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Specified Condition 3 - 9 4.0 Ω - Reinstall the unit with the connector connected.
- Reference:
Check the pulse of the pulse sensor.
- Using an oscilloscope, check the pulse generated when the door is manually opened and closed.
Standard:
PULSE REFERENCE CHARTTerminal 1 - 6, 5 - 6 Tool setting 10 V/DIV., 10 ms/DIV. Vehicle condition Door moving HINT:
A cycle of the pulse changes between approx. 10 to 20 msec. according to the speeds that the slide door is moving
- Using an oscilloscope, check the pulse generated when the door is manually opened and closed.
- NG: REPLACE POWER BACK DOOR DRIVE UNIT
- OK: Go to next step.
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (POWER BACK DOOR DRIVE UNIT - POWER BACK DOOR ECU)
- Disconnect the P12 unit and P13 ECU connectors.
- Check the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard:
TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION CHARTTester Connection Specified Condition P12-2 - P13-26 (DSV) Below 1 Ω P12-6 - P13-23 (DSG) Below 1 Ω P12-1 - P13-25 (DS1) Below 1 Ω P12-5 - P13-24 (DS2) Below 1 Ω
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
- OK: REPLACE POWER BACK DOOR ECU
