Inspection Procedure

  1. READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Using the hand-held tester, check that unlock warning switch signal is output when the switch is operated.

    Standard (Body ECU (Switch condition)): 

    MEASUREMENT ITEM/DISPLAY (RANGE) AND DIAGNOSTIC NOTE

    Item Measurement Item/Display (Range) Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
    KEY UNLK WRN SW Un-lock warning switch signal/ON or OFF ON: Key is in ignition key cylinder
    OFF: No key is in ignition key cylinder
    -
    1. OK: Go to step   4 
    2. NG: Go To Next Step 
  2. INSPECT UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSY 
    1. Remove the unlock warning switch.
    2. Inspect the unlock warning switch continuity.

    Standard: 

    TERMINAL NO AND CONDITION SPECIFICATION

    Terminal No. Condition Specified Condition
    1 <=> 2 Switch free
    (Key removed)
    No continuity
    Switch pushed
    (Key set)
    Continuity
    1. NG: REPLACE UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSY 
    2. OK: Go To Next Step

  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSY --> INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY (BODY ECU)) 
    1. Disconnect the K3 unlock warning switch and B5 body ECU connectors.
    2. Check the continuity between the wire harness side connectors.

    Standard (Check for open): 

    SYMBOLS (TERMINAL NO.) SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Symbols (Terminal No.) Specified Condition
    - (K3-2) <=> KSW (B5-14) Continuity
    - (K3-1) <=> Body ground

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY 
  4. READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Using the hand-held tester, check that driver side door courtesy switch signal is output when the switch is operated.

    Standard (Body ECU (Switch condition)): 

    MEASUREMENT ITEM/DISPLAY (RANGE) AND DIAGNOSTIC NOTE

    D DOR CTY SW Driver side door courtesy switch signal/ON or OFF ON: Driver side door is open
    OFF: Driver side door is closed

    1. OK: REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY 
    2. NG: Go To Next Step 
  5. INSPECT FRONT DOOR COURTESY Lamp SWITCH ASSY (DRIVER SIDE) 
    1. Remove the courtesy lamp switch.
    2. Inspect the courtesy lamp switch continuity.

    Standard: 

    TERMINAL NO AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Terminal No. Condition Specified Condition
    1 <=> Body ground Free Continuity
    Pushed No continuity

    1. NG: REPLACE FRONT DOOR COURTESY Lamp SWITCH ASSY 
    2. OK: Go To Next Step 
  6. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (FRONT DOOR COURTESY Lamp SWITCH ASSY (DRIVER SIDE) <=> INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY (BODY ECU)) 
    1. Disconnect the D12 courtesy lamp switch and B4 body ECU connectors.
    2. Check the continuity between the wire harness side connectors.

    Standard (Check for open):

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY
