How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

The hand-held tester can be used at steps 3, 6 and 9.

1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP 
2. CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS (SEE  CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS CHECK  ) 
3. CHECK MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION AND CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS (See  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING (MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION)  and  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING (CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS)  ) 

   HINT:

   Some signals are sent and received through either the multiplex communication system or CAN communication system.

   1. Check for DTC outputs.
   1. DTC IS OUTPUT (PROCEED TO "MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM" OR "CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM") 
   2. DTC IS NOT OUTPUT (Go to step 4) 
4. CHECK TIRE PRESSURE WARNING INDICATOR CONDITION 
   1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
   2. Record the condition of the tire pressure warning indicator on the combination meter assy.
   3. Refer to the "TIRE PRESSURE WARNING INDICATOR CHART" section of the DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM for checking the condition of the tire pressure warning indicator (see DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM ).
5. PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (SEE  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  ) 
6. CIRCUIT INSPECTION (SEE  STOP LAMP SWITCH CIRCUIT   to  AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT  ) 
7. IDENTIFICATION OF PROBLEM 
8. REPAIR 
9. CONFIRMATION TEST
