Section 444 (Hood): Adjustment

NOTE:
Since the centering bolt is used as a hood hinge set bolt and hood lock set bolt, the hood and hood lock can not be adjusted with it on. Substitute a bolt with washer for the centering bolt.
- INSPECT HOOD SUB-ASSY
- Check that the clearance is within the standard value.
- ADJUST HOOD SUB-ASSY
- Horizontally adjust the hood.
- Loosen the hood side hinge bolts.
- Adjust the clearance so that it will be in the standard value, by moving the hood.
Standard (A): 3.9 +/- 1.5 mm (0.154 +/- 0.059 in.)
- Tighten the hood side hinge bolts after the adjustment.
Torque: 13 N.m (130 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf)
- Adjust the height of the hood front end by the cushion rubber.
- Adjust the cushion rubber so that the hood and the fender will be aligned.
NOTE:The cushion rubber goes up and down by turning it.
- Adjust the hood lock.
- Using a clip remover, disengage the clips, remove the 8 radiator support seal upper clips.
- Remove the radiator support seal upper.
- Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 clips.
- Remove the hood lock release lever protector.
NOTE: Removing the protector damages the clips inside the protector, therefore the use of a new protector is necessary on the installation.
- Adjust the hood lock position so that the striker will come in, by moving the striker.
- Tighten the hood lock bolts after the adjustment.
Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in..lbf)
NOTE:Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Horizontally adjust the hood.
