Inspection Procedure

NOTE: If not using the LEXUS hand-held tester, start the inspection from step  2.
  1. Connect the LEXUS hand-held tester to the DLC3. See Figure. Turn the ignition switch ON and LEXUS hand-held tester main switch ON. The value of the illumination rate should change in the following range (0-100) when the rheostat light control volume is put in the or covered by a hand. Check the tail cancel switch using DATA LIST. If the results are OK, go to the next step. If the results are not good, replace the rheostat light control volume located on the center lower cluster finish panel. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article.
  2. Check the rheostat light control volume. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article. If the results are OK, go to the next step. If the results are not good, replace the rheostat light control volume located on the center lower cluster finish panel. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANEL article.
  3. Check the wiring harness and connector between the rheostat light control volume and driver side junction block (body No. 2) ECU. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If the results are OK, proceed to the next circuit inspection of the problem symptom. See PROBLEM SYMPTOM INDEX (BODY NO. 2 CONTROL SYSTEM)  table. If the results are not good, repair or replace the wiring harness or connector.
