Inspection Procedure

NOTE: If not using the LEXUS hand-held tester, start the inspection from step  2.
  1. Connect the LEXUS hand-held tester to the DLC3. See Figure. Check that the headlight relay can operate in an ACTIVE TEST. If the headlight relay is normal, the headlight lo-beam comes ON. If the headlight relay is activated but the headlight lo-beam does not come on, check the headlight circuit. See HEADLIGHTS in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If the results are OK, proceed to the next circuit inspection of the problem symptom. See PROBLEM SYMPTOM INDEX (BODY NO. 2 CONTROL SYSTEM)  table. If the results are not good, go to the next step.
  2. Check the headlight relay. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. If the results are OK, go to the next step. If the results are not good, replace the headlight relay located in the engine room No. 1 relay block and junction block.
  3. Check the wiring harness and connector between headlight relay and driver side junction block (body No. 2) ECU. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If the results are OK, proceed to the next circuit inspection of the problem symptom. See PROBLEM SYMPTOM INDEX (BODY NO. 2 CONTROL SYSTEM)  table. If the results are not good, repair or replace the wiring harness or connector.
