Inspection Procedure

  1. READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Using the hand-held tester, check that un-lock warning switch signal is output when the switch is operated.

    Standard (Body ECU (Switch condition)): 

    KEY UNLOCK WARNING SWITCH CONDITION SPECIFICATIONS

    Item Measurement Item/Display (Range) Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
    KEY UNLK WRN SW Un-lock warning switch signal/ON or OFF ON: Key is in ignition key cylinder
    OFF: No key is in ignition key cylinder
    -
    1. OK: GO TO STEP   4 
    2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  2. INSPECT UN-LOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSY 
    1. Remove the un-lock warning switch.
    2. Inspect the un-lock warning switch continuity.

    Standard: 

    UN-LOCK WARNING SWITCH CONTINUITY SPECIFICATIONS

    Terminal No. Condition Specified Condition
    1 <=> 2 Switch free (Key removed) No continuity
    Switch pushed (Key set) Continuity

    1. NG: REPLACE UN-LOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (UN-LOCK WARNING SWITCH ASSY <=> INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY (BODY ECU)) 
    1. Disconnect the K3 un-lock warning switch and B5 body ECU connectors.
    2. Check the continuity between the wire harness side connectors.

    Standard (Check for open): 

    HARNESS SIDE CONNECTOR TERMINALS CONTINUITY SPECIFICATIONS

    Symbols (Terminal No.) Specified Condition
    - (K3-2) <=> KSW (B5-14) Continuity
    - (K3-1) <=> Body ground

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
    3. REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY 
  4. READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Using the hand-held tester, check that driver side door courtesy switch signal is output when the switch is operated.

    Standard (Body ECU (Switch condition)): 

    DRIVER SIDE DOOR COURTESY SWITCH CONDITION SPECIFICATIONS

    D DOR CTY SW Driver side door courtesy switch signal/ON or OFF ON: Driver side door is open
    OFF: Driver side door is closed

    1. OK: REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY 
    2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  5. INSPECT FRONT DOOR COURTESY LAMP SWITCH ASSY (DRIVER SIDE) 
    1. Remove the courtesy lamp switch.
    2. Inspect the courtesy lamp switch continuity.

    Standard: 

    COURTESY LAMP SWITCH CONTINUITY SPECIFICATIONS

    Terminal No. Condition Specified Condition
    1 <=> Body ground Free Continuity
    Pushed No continuity

    1. NG: REPLACE FRONT DOOR COURTESY LAMP SWITCH ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  6. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (FRONT DOOR COURTESY LAMP SWITCH ASSY (DRIVER SIDE) <=> INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY (BODY ECU)) 
    1. Disconnect the D12 courtesy lamp switch and B4 body ECU connectors.
    2. Check the continuity between the wire harness side connectors.

    Standard (Check for open): 

    WIRE HARNESS SIDE CONNECTOR TERMINALS CONTINUITY SPECIFICATIONS

    Symbols (Terminal No.) Specified Condition
    - (D12-1) <=> DCTY (B4-23) Continuity

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSY
