Removal & Installation: CAMRY: Disassembly

- Using pliers, remove left axle inboard joint boot clamp. Using pliers, remove second left axle inboard joint boot clamp and remove it. Separate joint boot from joint assembly. Paint alignment marks on inboard and outboard joint shafts. DO NOT punch marks. Remove inboard joint from outboard joint shaft.
- Using snap ring expander, remove front axle shaft right inner shaft snap ring. See Fig 1. Paint alignment marks on outboard joint shaft and tripod. DO NOT punch marks. Using a brass bar and a hammer, remove tripod joint from outboard joint shaft. DO NOT tap roller.
- On automatic transaxle models, use pliers to remove left axle shaft damper clamp and remove it. Remove damper. On 2.4L models, use pliers to remove right axle shaft damper clamp. Remove damper. See Fig 1.
- On all models, remove left axle outboard joint boot clamp using pliers. Remove clamp. Remove outboard joint boot front outboard shaft and remove old grease from joint. On models not equipped with ABS, remove left front wheel bearing dust deflector by mounting left outboard joint shaft in soft jaw vise. Use screwdriver and hammer to remove wheel bearing dust deflector.
- Remove left axle shaft hole snap ring using screwdriver. Using Bearing Remover (SST 09950-00020) or equivalent and press, remove left axle shaft dust cover. Using press, remove right axle shaft dust cover.
- Using snap ring pliers, remove right axle shaft hole snap ring. Using Rear Axle Shaft Bearing Remover (SST 09527-10011) or equivalent and press, remove axle shaft bearing. Be careful not to drop inboard joint.
