Park/Neutral Position Switch

  1. Check that engine can only be started with shift lever in the "N" or "P" positions, not in any other position. If engine can be started in any position other than "N" or "P", adjust Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch. Go to next step.
  2. Adjust PNP switch using the following steps:
    1. Loosen bolt of PNP switch and set shift lever to "N" position.
    2. Align the groove and neutral basic line. See Fig 1.
    3. Hold switch in position and tighten bolt to 10 ft. lbs. (13 N.m).
    4. After adjustment, perform inspection as described in step  1.
