Real Oil Seal: Replacement
- REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY, see REPLACEMENT .
- REMOVE DRIVE PLATE & RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Hold the crankshaft damper with SST, then remove the drive plate and ring gear sub-assembly.
SST 09213-70011, 09330-00021
- Hold the crankshaft damper with SST, then remove the drive plate and ring gear sub-assembly.
- REMOVE ENGINE REAR OIL SEAL
- Using a knife, cut off the oil seal lip.
- Using a screwdriver with taping its tip, pry out the oil seal.
NOTE: After the removal, check if the crankshaft is not damaged. If it is damaged, mend it with a sandpaper (#400). - INSTALL ENGINE REAR OIL SEAL
- Apply MP grease to a new oil seal lip.NOTE: Keep the lip off foreign materials.
- Using SST and a hammer, tap in the oil seal until its surface is flush with the rear oil seal retainer edge.
NOTE:
- Be careful not to tap the oil seal slantingly.
- Wipe off extra grease on the crankshaft.
SST 09223-56010
- Apply MP grease to a new oil seal lip.
- INSTALL DRIVE PLATE & RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Hold the crankshaft with SST.
SST 09213-70011, 09330-00021
NOTE:- The mounting bolts are tightened in 2 progressive steps (steps (c) and (e)).
- If any one of the mounting bolts is broken or deformed, replace it.
- Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads of the mounting bolt end.
Adhesive:
Part No. 08833-00070, THREE BOND 1324 or equivalent
- Install the front spacer, drive plate and rear spacer on the crankshaft.
- Install and uniformly tighten the 8 mounting bolts in several passes, in the sequence shown.
Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft-lbf)

If any one of the mounting bolts does not meet the torque specification, replace the mounting bolt.
- Mark the mounting bolt with paint.
- Retighten the mounting bolts by 90° in the numerical order shown.
- Check that the painted mark is now at a 90° angle to (e).
- Hold the crankshaft with SST.
