Inspection Procedure

  1. OBD II SCAN TOOL OR LEXUS HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Check compass operation.
      1. Connect the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester to DLC3.
      2. Turn the ignition switch ON and push the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester main switch ON.
      3. Select the ACTIVE TEST mode on the OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester.
      4. Check the all segments of compass directs in the combination meter by OBD II scan tool or LEXUS hand-held tester.

      OK: All segments direct normally. 

    1. NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  2. CARIBRATE COMPASS 
    1. Perform the calibration.
    1. OK: NORMAL 
    2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  3. CHECK HARNESS OR CONNECTOR(BETWEEN COMBINATION METER AND MAGNETIC FIELD SENSOR) 
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  4. CHECK THAT MALFUNCTION DISAPPEAR WHEN A KNOWN GOOD MAGNETIC FIELD SENSOR IS INSTALLED 
    1. Check that malfunction disappear when a known good magnetic field sensor is installed.
    MALFUNCTION CHART

    A Malfunction does not disappear
    B Malfunction disappear
    1. B: REPAIR MAGNETIC FIELD SENSOR 
    2. A: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY
