Strut Assembly: Reassembly

  1. Install spring bumper to piston rod and lower insulator.
    2. NOTE: DO NOT use an impact wrench. It will damage the Special Tool.
  2. Using Special Tool (09727-30021), compress the coil spring.
  3. Install the coil spring to the shock absorber. Fit the lower end of the coil spring into the gap of the lower seat. Align the suspension support with the shock absorber lower bracket. See Fig 1.
  4. Install the collar to the piston rod. Temporarily install a new nut. Remove the Special Tool. After removing Special Tool, recheck the direction of the suspension support.
  5. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Check wheel alignment. See REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT article in WHEEL ALIGNMENT.
