Inspection Procedure

  1. Check that the open door warning light comes ON when each door is opened and goes OFF when all doors are closed. If the results are OK, go to the next step. If the results are not good, check and repair the open door warning light circuit. For 2001 vehicles, see INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under COMPONENT TESTS in INSTRUMENT PANELS article. For 2002 vehicles, see COMBINATION METER CIRCUIT under CIRCUIT TESTS in INSTRUMENT PANEL article.
  2. Check for an open in the harness and connector between the theft deterrent ECU and door courtesy switch. For 2001 vehicles, see ANTI-THEFT in 2001 SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL. For 2002 vehicles, see ANTI-THEFT in 2002 SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL. When there is a malfunction that the anti-theft system cannot be set, proceed to the next circuit inspection of the problem symptom. See PROBLEM SYMPTOM INDEX  table. If the results are not good, repair or replace the harness or connector.
