Electronic Suspension: Description

WARNING: Vehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting any repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
NOTE: On vehicles equipped with electronic modulated air suspension system, turn ignition off when jacking up vehicle. If a vehicle is jacked up with the ignition switch on, connect terminals Ts and CG of (DLC3) with special tool (09843-18040). See Fig 1. (DLC3) is located under dash on driver's side. Remove all items under vehicle before lowering. The vehicle will be extremely low because the air in the pneumatic cylinder escapes. When the ignition switch is turned to ON (engine running), the vehicle height is automatically adjusted to normal condition.

The electronically modulated air suspension adjusts damping effect on the shock absorbers and vehicle height. This adjustment is automatically made in response to driving conditions to provide good riding comfort and stability in all driving conditions. The system maintains a stable vehicle height regardless of occupant and luggage weight.

There are two modes of adjustment. Normal mode is suitable for driving on roads with a normal surface. High mode is for driving on rough roads which are unsurfaced or continually bumpy. The damping effect is set slightly firmer in the high mode. There will be more vibration in this mode.
