Air Conditioning: Condenser: Removal

  1. Discharge refrigerant from refrigeration system.
    NOTE: At the time of installation, please refer to the following items:
    • Evacuate air from refrigeration system.
    • Charge system with refrigerant and inspect for leakage of refrigerant.
      1. Specified amount:
        1. Single A/C:  650 +/- 50 g (22.93 +/- 1.76 oz.)
        2. Dual A/C:  900 +/- 50 g (31.74 +/- 1.76 oz.)
  2. Remove air inlet duct.
  3. Remove air cleaner assembly.
  4. Disconnect discharge hose and liquid tube.
    1. Remove the bolt and bracket.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the hose and tube.

      Torque:  5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)

      CAUTION: Cap the open fittings immediately to keep moisture or dirt out of the system.
      NOTE: At the time of installation, please refer to the following item:
      1. Lubricate 2 new O-rings with compressor oil and install the hose and tube.
  5. Remove radiator upper seal.
    1. Remove the 2 nuts and 2 radiator brackets.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts.
    3. Disconnect the 3 connectors.
    4. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 horns.
    5. Remove the bolt and smog ventilation sensor.
    6. Remove the cover, nut, 2 bolts and food lock.
    7. Remove the cover, nut, 2 clips and wire cover.

    8. Remove the 5 bolts and radiator upper seal.

    9. Remove the 3 wire harness clamps.

  6. Remove condenser.
    1. Push down the 2 condenser brackets as shown in Fig 6.

    2. Push the radiator toward the engine.
    3. Push the condenser toward the radiator then pull it upward.
