Floor Shift Cable Transmission Control Shift: Replacement

  1. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  2. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING RADIATOR ASSEMBLY (See  OVERHAUL  ) 
  3. REMOVE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CENTER (See  AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY  ) 
  4. REMOVE BATTERY 
  5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY 
  6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE NO. 1 
  7. REMOVE INTAKE AIR RESONATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 
  8. DISCONNECT SHIFT CABLE GROMMET RETAINER NO. 2 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect shift cable grommet retainer No. 2.

  9. REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT CABLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHIFT 
    1. Remove the nut from the control shaft lever.
    2. Disconnect the control cable from the control shaft lever.

    3. Remove the clip and disconnect the control cable from the control cable bracket.

    4. Disconnect the control cable from the control cable clamp.

    5. Disconnect the floor shift cable from the transmission floor shift assembly.
    6. Pull out the control cable from the body.
    7. Remove the shift cable grommet retainer No. 2.

  10. INSTALL FLOOR SHIFT CABLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHIFT 
    1. Put in the control cable to the body.
    2. Install the shift cable grommet retainer No. 2 to the floor shift cable.
    3. Install the floor shift cable as shown in the illustration.

      HINT:

      • Install it with the uneven surface facing to up.
      • Fit the claws securely.
    4. Connect the control cable to the control cable clamp.

    5. Install the control cable and a new clip to the bracket.

    6. Temporarily install the control cable to the control shaft lever with nuts.

  11. INSTALL SHIFT CABLE GROMMET RETAINER NO. 2 
    1. Install the shift cable grommet retainer No. 2 with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 4.9 N.m (50 kgf.cm, 43 in.lbf)

  12. INSTALL AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CENTER (See  AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY  ) 
  13. INSTALL AIR CONDITIONING RADIATOR ASSEMBLY 
  14. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION (See  ADJUSTMENT  ) 
  15. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION (See  ADJUSTMENT  ) 
  16. INSTALL INTAKE AIR RESONATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 
  17. INSTALL AIR CLEANER HOSE NO. 1 
  18. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY 
  19. INSTALL BATTERY
