Without Hand-Held Tester

  1. Turn the ignition switch off.
  2. Using special tool (09843-18040), jumper terminals Ts and CG of DLC3. See Figure.
  3. Start the engine and check that the ABS warning light flashes. If the ABS warning light does not flash, inspect the ABS warning light circuit and Ts circuit. See SYSTEM TESTS .
  4. Keep the vehicle in stationary condition on a flat place for one second or more.
  5. Keeping the vehicle in the stationary condition and the brake pedal in free condition for one second or more, continue to depress the brake pedal for one second or more.
  6. Keeping the vehicle in the stationary condition, depress the brake pedal quickly.
  7. Under the above mentioned condition, the ABS warning light illuminates for 3 seconds.
  8. NOTE: If the vehicle has its wheels spin or its steering wheel moved from straight ahead, the sensor check will not complete.
  9. Drive the vehicle straight forward and faster than 28 mph for several seconds. Check that the ABS warning light turns off.
  10. Stop the vehicle. Using special tool (09843-18040), jumper terminals Tc and CG of DLC3. See Figure.
  11. Read the number of flashes of the ABS warning light. If every sensor is normal, there is a normal code output (.25 second on and .25 second off).
  12. If 2 or more malfunctions are indicated at the same time, the lowest numbered code will be displayed.
  13. After doing the check, turn the ignition switch off and remove the special tool from the DLC3.
