With Hand-Held Tester

  1. Start the engine and check that ABS warning light flashes. If the ABS warning light does not flash, inspect the ABS warning light circuit and Ts circuit. See SYSTEM TESTS .
  2. Drive the vehicle straight forward and faster than 28 mph for several seconds.
  3. Stop the vehicle. Read the DTC by following prompts on the tester screen. Refer to the hand-held tester operator's manual for further details.
  4. Keep the vehicle in stationary condition on a flat place for one second or more.
  5. Keeping the vehicle in the stationary condition and the brake pedal in free condition for one second or more, continue to depress the brake pedal for one second or more.
  6. Keeping the vehicle in the stationary condition, depress the brake pedal quickly.
  7. Under the above mentioned condition, the ABS warning light illuminates for 3 seconds.
  8. NOTE: If the vehicle has its wheels spin or its steering wheel moved from straight ahead, the sensor check will not complete.
  9. Drive the vehicle straight forward and faster than 28 mph for several seconds. Check that the ABS warning light turns off.
  10. Stop the engine.
  11. Read the DTC by following the prompts on the tester screen. Refer to the hand-held tester operator's manual for further details. If any DTCs are retrieved, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
