Inspection Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Lexus LX 470. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Remove the ECM with connector still connected. See ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn the ignition switch ON. Measure the voltage between connector E9 terminal No. 24 (CMS) of the ECM connector when the main switch is held on and off. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . See INSPECTING ECM CONNECTOR E9 TERMINAL NO. 24 (CMS) VOLTAGE table. If the results are OK, proceed to the next circuit inspection of the problem symptom. See PROBLEM SYMPTOM INDEX table. If the results are not OK, go to the next step.INSPECTING ECM CONNECTOR E9 TERMINAL NO. 24 (CMS) VOLTAGE

article. Disconnect the control switch connector. Check continuity between terminals No. 3 and 5 of the control switch connector when the main switch is held on and off. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . See INSPECTING CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH CONNECTOR TERMINALS NO. 3 & 5 CONTINUITY table. If the results are OK, go to the next step. If the results are not OK, replace the control switch. See CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.INSPECTING CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH CONNECTOR TERMINALS NO. 3 & 5 CONTINUITY
Switch Position Tester Connection Specified Condition OFF 3 - 5 No Continuity Hold ON 3 - 5 Continuity - Check the harness and connector between ECM and cruise control main switch. See CRUISE CONTROL in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS. If the results are OK, check and replace the ECM. See ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If the results are not OK, repair or replace the harness or connector.
