Trouble Shooting

WARNING: Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
NOTE: Verify power door lock system is operating properly before trouble shooting anti-theft system. See SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS (DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM)  table. Anti-theft system will not operate properly if power door lock system is not operating properly. When anti-theft system is not operating properly, lower door windows and determine under what conditions system does not operate or malfunctions. See SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS (ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM)  table.
SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS (DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM)

Problem Inspect
All Functions Of Door Lock Control System Do Not Operate (1) ECU Power Source Circuit
(1) Actuator Power Source Circuit
(1) Luggage Compartment Door Opener Motor Circuit
(1) Door Lock Motor Circuit
(2) Anti-Theft/Door Lock Control ECU
All Or Some Doors Are Not Locked/Unlocked With Door Lock Control Switch & Door Key Lock & Unlock Switch (Luggage Compartment Door Opener Function Okay) (1) Door Lock Control Switch Circuit
(1) Door Key Lock & Unlock Switch Circuit
(1) Door Lock Motor Circuit
(2) Anti-Theft/Door Lock Control ECU
Doors Cannot Be Locked/Unlocked With Door Lock Control Switch (Door Key Lock & Unlock Switch Operates Okay) (1) Door Lock Control Switch Circuit
(1) Key Unlock Warning Switch Circuit
(1) Door Open Detection Switch Circuit
(2) Anti-Theft/Door Lock Control ECU
Doors Cannot Be Locked/Unlocked With Door Key Lock & Unlock Switch (Door Lock Control Switch Operates Okay) (1) Door Key Lock & Unlock Switch Circuit
(2) Anti-Theft/Door Lock Control ECU
Key Confinement Prevention Function Does Not Operate (Doors Lock/Unlock With Door Key Lock & Unlock Switch) (1) Key Unlock Warning Switch Circuit
(1) Door Unlock Detection Switch Circuit
(1) Door Open Detection Switch Circuit
(2) Anti-Theft/Door Lock Control ECU
Luggage Compartment Opening Function Does Not Operate (1) Luggage Compartment Door Opener Switch Circuit
(1) Luggage Compartment Door Opener Motor Circuit
(2) Anti-Theft/Door Lock Control ECU
(1) Perform appropriate circuit test under CIRCUIT TESTS . If more than one circuit test is listed, perform tests in order listed.
(2) Perform ANTI-THEFT/DOOR LOCK CONTROL ECU PIN VOLTAGE TESTS  under COMPONENT TESTS.
SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS (ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM)

Problem (1) Inspect
System Cannot Be Set Anti-Theft Indicator Circuit
Luggage Compartment Door Courtesy Switch Circuit
Door Unlock Detection Switch Circuit
Engine Hood Courtesy Switch Circuit
Indicator Does Not Flash When System Is Set Anti-Theft Indicator Circuit
With System Set, System Does Not Operate
When Door Is Unlocked Door Unlock Detection Switch Circuit
Luggage Compartment Door Is Opened By Other Than Key Luggage Compartment Door Courtesy Switch Circuit
Engine Hood Is Opened Engine Hood Courtesy Switch Circuit
While System Is In Warning Operation
Standard Horns Do Not Sound Horn Relay Circuit
Anti-Theft Horn Does Not Sound Anti-Theft Horn Circuit
Headlights Do Not Flash Headlight Control Relay Circuit
Taillights Do Not Flash Taillight Control Relay Circuit
Starter Interrupt System Does Not Operate Starter Relay Circuit
System Cannot Be Canceled When Ignition Switch Is In ON Or ACC Position Ignition Switch Circuit
System Does Not Cancel When Luggage Compartment Door Is Opened With Key Luggage Compartment Door Key Lock & Unlock Switch Circuit
Starter Does Not Operate With System Disarmed Starter Relay Circuit
Standard Horns Sound When System Is Not Set Horn Relay Circuit
Anti-Theft Horn Sounds When System Is Not Set Anti-Theft Horn Circuit
Headlights Flash When System Is Not Set Headlight Control Relay Circuit
Taillights Flash When System Is Not Set Taillight Control Relay Circuit
(1) Perform appropriate circuit test under CIRCUIT TESTS . If more than one test is listed, perform tests in order listed.
