Engine Hood Courtesy Switch Circuit

  1. Engine hood courtesy switch is built into hood lock assembly. Turn ignition off. Remove hood lock assembly. Disconnect engine hood courtesy switch connector. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between engine hood courtesy switch terminals. With hood unlocked, continuity should exist. With hood locked, continuity should not exist. If continuity is as specified, go to next step. If continuity is not as specified, replace engine hood courtesy switch.
  2. Check circuits for faults between engine hood courtesy switch, anti-theft/door lock control ECU and body ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair or replace as necessary. If circuits are okay, check anti-theft/door lock control ECU pin voltages. See ANTI-THEFT/DOOR LOCK CONTROL ECU PIN VOLTAGE TESTS  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace as necessary and retest system operation.
