Retrieving Diagnostic Trouble Codes: Notes

NOTE: Ensure battery is in good condition and is fully charged. DO NOT start engine when retrieving codes. If codes cannot be retrieved, perform ABS WARNING LIGHT CIRCUIT and Tc TERMINAL CIRCUIT tests under SYSTEM TESTS. If problem remains, replace ABS/TRAC/VSC ECU.

Turn ignition on. Ensure ABS, VSC OFF, BRAKE warning and SLIP indicator lights illuminate for 3 seconds. If ABS, VSC OFF, BRAKE or SLIP indicator light does not illuminate, see ABS WARNING LIGHT CIRCUIT , BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CIRCUIT , SLIP INDICATOR LIGHT CIRCUIT or VSC OFF WARNING LIGHT (VSC OFF SWITCH CIRCUIT) tests under SYSTEM TESTS. If ABS or VSC OFF warning lights flash or stay on constantly, retrieve Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC). See USING ABS WARNING LIGHT or USING SCAN TOOL .
