Telescopic Motor Circuit

NOTE: When using Lexus Hand-Held Tester (scan tool), start at step 1). If scan tool is not available, start at step 2).
  1. Connect scan tool to DLC3. Turn ignition and tester on. Select ACTIVE TEST mode on tester. Using tester, telescope wheel in and out while noting position value. If wheel does not move or position value does not change, go to next step. If wheel moves and position value changes, go to TROUBLE SHOOTING and perform the next test listed.
  2. Remove steering column cover. Disconnect tilt motor connector. Disconnect telescopic motor connector. Connect tilt motor connector to telescopic motor. Using manual switch, operate tilt control. If wheel does not telescope, replace telescopic motor. See STEERING COLUMNS article. If wheel telescopes, repair wiring harness between telescopic motor and tilt and telescopic control module. If wiring is okay, go to TROUBLE SHOOTING and perform the next test listed.
