Section 5 (Disc Brakes): Overhaul: Caliper: Disassembly

  1. Remove brake caliper from vehicle. See FRONT BRAKE CALIPER  or REAR BRAKE CALIPER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using a screwdriver, remove caliper cylinder boot set ring from caliper piston. Place a piece of cloth between 2 blocks of wood.
  2. Support caliper between blocks of wood. Use compressed air to push piston from caliper bore into cloth. Remove piston seal from caliper. Remove sliding pins and dust boots.
