Removal & Installation - A/T: Automatic: Transaxle: Removal
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove dipstick tube. Disconnect throttle cable. Disconnect oxygen sensor. Remove both tailpipes. Remove front and center exhaust pipes. Remove heat insulator. Remove center floor crossmember brace.
- Disconnect shift control rod from shift lever. Unbolt and remove drive shaft. Disconnect both vehicle speed sensor harness connectors. Disconnect O/D direct clutch speed sensor harness connector. Disconnect solenoid harness connector. Disconnect park/neutral position switch harness connector. Unbolt all harness hold-down clamps.
- Disconnect starter harness connections. Disconnect and remove oil cooler pipes. Remove torque converter inspection plate. Remove 6 bolts securing torque converter to flywheel. Using appropriate transmission jack, support transmission.
- Using 2 tall jack stands (muffler type), support front and rear of engine. Remove transmission rear support. Unbolt and move starter forward. Remove transmission to engine securing bolts. Move transmission rearward and lower.
