Intermittent Relay Operation

  1. Connect jumper wire between battery positive terminal and wiper relay terminal No. 2. See Figure. Connect a second jumper wire between negative battery terminal and wiper relay terminal No. 7. Connect voltmeter positive lead to wiper relay terminal No. 5 and negative lead to terminal No. 7. No voltage should exist.
  2. Connect negative lead from battery to wiper relay terminal No. 4. Ensure voltage varies from zero volts to one second of battery voltage in 4-second intervals. If voltage varies as specified, go to next step. If voltage does not vary, replace relay.
  3. Connect jumper wire between wiper relay terminals No. 3 and 8. Ensure voltage varies from zero volts to one second of battery voltage in 2-second intervals. If voltage varies as specified, go to WASHER SWITCH ON OPERATION procedure. If voltage does not vary, replace relay.
