DTC P0820-86 Gear Lever X-Y Position Sensor Circuit - Signal invalid: Action
- Vehicle Conditions to enable DTC Logging Strategy
- Ignition on, engine running, stationary, clutch up
- Prioritised Checks to Perform
- Refer to the appropriate system wiring diagrams and check the gear position sensor circuit(s) for short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance. Repair the wiring harness as necessary
- Inspect connectors for signs of water ingress, and pins for damage and/or corrosion
- Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment check datalogger signal - Gear Selector Position Sensor - Raw (0x1E64)
- Check that the gear position sensor signals match the expected values for each gear including neutral. If signals do not change as expected, replace the gear position sensor
- Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, clear the Diagnostic Trouble Code(s) and retest
