Paddle Switches
There are 2 paddle switches at the back of the steering wheel. The paddle switches allow the driver to operate the transmission as a semi-automatic manual gearbox using the command shift feature.
Each paddle switch has 3 connections:
- Ground.
- Switch illumination Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) supply.
- Ground switch signal.
The first operation of either paddle switch, after the SPORT position is selected, puts the transmission into permanent manual command shift mode. Rotate the Transmission Control Switch (TCS) back to the DRIVE position, returns the transmission to conventional automatic operation.
Temporary operation of command shift mode can also be operated with the TCS in the DRIVE position. Operation of either the upshift or downshift paddle switch activates the manual mode operation. If the TCS is in DRIVE, command shift will cancel after a time period. Command shift can be cancelled by pressing and holding the upshift paddle switch for approximately 2 seconds.
The temporary operation of the paddle switches in the DRIVE position is disabled in some markets as a default at delivery. This can be overridden in the Instrument Cluster (IC) menu. The driver can configure the paddle switch operation as 'Active in SPORT only' or 'Active in DRIVE and SPORT'.
