DTC P0116-64: Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit Range/Performance - Signal plausibility failure: Action
- Prioritized Checks to Perform
- Check the cooling system for mechanical and fluid integrity. Rectify as necessary
- Check the cooling fan system for mechanical integrity. Rectify as necessary
- Check the thermostat system for mechanical integrity. Rectify as necessary
- Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check the engine coolant temperature sensor circuit for short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance. Check the electrical connectors for evidence of water ingress. Check the terminals for damage and corrosion. Repair the wiring harness as necessary
- Check the engine coolant temperature sensor for contamination. Rectify as necessary
- Install a new engine coolant temperature sensor
- Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, run application - ECU Diagnostics/Powertrain Control Module (PCM)/Clear Diagnostic Trouble Code(s). Retest
