Speed Control (G2271252): Overview
There are 3 variants of speed control available:
- A standard speed control system
- An adaptive speed control system
- A speed limiter system.
The standard speed control system maintains a set speed selected by the driver. Operation of the system is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The operation is suspended or cancelled by a further input from the driver.
The adaptive speed control system includes the same functionality as the standard system, but also has the ability to:
- Automatically reduce vehicle speed, to less than the set speed, in order to maintain the selected time gap behind a slower moving vehicle.
- Automatically increase the speed of the vehicle back to the set speed when it is safe to do so.
- Alert the driver when the vehicle is closer than the time gap ('Forward Alert' feature).
The speed limiter system restricts the vehicle speed to an adjustable preset maximum and will prevent the vehicle exceeding that speed.
