ISSUE

During vehicle diagnostic/servicing check up or following fitment of a new Power Steering Gear, the following DTC may be reported for the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM).

'U2100-56 - Initial Configuration Not Complete - Invalid/incomplete configuration'

After running the indicated routine to clear the DTC ($3038 - Lock Steering Tune to Vehicle), the DTC may not clear, even after repeated attempts. Incorrectly, dealers have previously changed the power steering gear to fix the issue.

There is no customer reportable symptom and this issue affects only a limited number of vehicles in service.

CAUSE

VIN of certain vehicles can cause the issue where the 'Lock Steering Tune' diagnostic routine can not be run successfully and the associated DTC can not be cleared.

ACTION

Confirm VIN of vehicle is contained on applicable list depending on Model Year.
If vehicle VIN is on attached lists DTC 'U2100-56' should be ignored.
If vehicle is not on attached list, proceed with repair as per TOPIX recommendations
